Chief, Computer Network Defense - Operations and Architecture (Oct 99-Jun 01) • Management and technical oversight of 10 person Engineering office providing on-site network and security optimization and crisis/risk management, architecture analysis and design, countermeasure application support, troubleshooting, risk analysis and solution development for AF networks and systems worldwide. • Analyzed Air Force site security infrastructures, processes and policies, and made changes and/or recommendations while deployed to optimize the network infrastructure and security configuration of over 108 base-level Metropolitan Area Networks (MAN) supporting between 1,500 and 25,000 users each. • Researched and evaluated cutting-edge security technology, and developed updates to the Air Force Information Protection Domain Architecture and Air Force policy ensuring new requirements and products were evaluated and included to meet present and future operational requirements. HIGHLIGHTS • Developed new boundary protection/VPN solution for secure transport of medical community sensitive patient data within the Air Force enterprise as part of a $ 750M upgrade – solution saved $5M, met all LOAC and HIPAA requirements, and kept medical networks within the Air Force centralized management scheme.
