About

Long range of aim of my research is to develop simple genetic markers for drought, salinity and heavy metal tolerance in local crops, viz., groundnut, horsegram, safflower, mulberry and foxtail millets. My current research is focused on molecular cloning, characterization, functional validation of stress responsive genes and developing transgenics for improved drought tolerance. Our research demonstrated salt stress responsive novel proteins from foxtail millets. Developed transgenic groundnut plants carrying NAC, WRKY, DREB TF genes for improved agronomic traits in groundnut.
