Having completed a first degree in English Literature w / French Studies in 2004, I completed a PGCE Secondary and worked in the North West, teaching english and media studies full time. I then returned to academic study in 2008, undertaking a part time MA (by research) in the field of children's literature. The thesis was entitled: 'Borderlands and Boundaries: A Psychoanalytical Study of Portal Narratives' and was supervised by Dr. Tess Cosslett. My current PhD study focuses on Gothic children's literature and is supervised by Dr. Catherine Spooner at Lancaster University. Whilst studying for my MA I have been working in adult education.
