I have had a fairly varied career. I qualified in medicine and was heading towards community medicine (now public health medicine) when I took a trip into psychiatry and pretty immediately realised that I was going to be a research/academic, medical psychotherapist but holding an allegiance to public health perspectives. That was 1984 and I haven't regretted that choice. I've worked on eating disorders, personality disorders and forensic psychotherapy. I'm qualified in analytic and systemic psychotherapy and my main qualification is in Group Analysis. A lot of my research work has been around psychometrics, statistical issues in change and outcome measurement and I am proud to be a co-author of the CORE (Clinical Outcomes in Routine Evaluation) system.
