About

My scientific interests include biodiversity informatics, predictive data analysis and plant genetic resources for food and agriculture. I was once a child in Arendal in the south of Norway. Studied to my master (Civil Engineer) with my diploma thesis in molecular genetics at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim. I completed my PhD studies at the University of Copenhagen in Denmark (2007 to 2011) on predictive modeling of the environmental factors influencing adaptive traits in traditional agricultural crops (landraces). My PhD research was organized as a collaborative project between the University of Copenhagen (Denmark), NordGen (Alnarp, Sweden) and Bioversity International (Rome, Italy). The objective of my research project was to identify and exploit the link between useful target crop traits and eco-climatic properties characteristic for the location where these traditional landraces were developed. My primary contribution was on novel application of new data analysis methods. The thesis book is available at http://goo.gl/pYa9x (PDF, 38 MB).
