Dan is the Director of Strategy and Communications with the Pembina Institute. He joined the Institute in 2001 as a policy analyst and from 2003 through 2007 he led the Institute's oilsands program, working on the environmental review of proposed oilsands projects, participating in many multi-stakeholder environmental initiatives, and researching and writing numerous publications on environmental impacts and policy. He currently provides strategic and communications support to the Institute's renewable energy and efficiency, climate change, transportation and oilsands programs and manages government and stakeholder relations.
Dan serves as a spokesperson for the Institute and has presented expert testimony regarding the environmental impacts of energy development before both provincial and federal regulatory review panels and parliamentary committees. He completed a B.Sc. in environmental science (University of Calgary) in 2001 and an MA in environment and management (Royal Roads University) in 2006. As a Social Science and Humanities Research Council scholar Dan's graduate research focused on corporate environmental strategy in the Canadian oil and gas sector.
