About

CEAB's Director from 2003 to 2014, I am Doctor in Biological Sciences (Ecology) by the University of Barcelona, and CSIC Research Scientist within the Department of Marine Ecology of the CEAB (Research Group of Molecular Ecology of the Marine Benthos). My main research interests focus on marine benthos, especially polychaetes, highlighting the following areas: Taxonomy, Ecology and Biology, with emphasis on symbiotic species. My current projects covers the following issues: Environmental impact, biology and ecology of macrofauna from protected areas, Taxonomy and biodiversity, Sponge-microbia-polychaete symbiosis. I have 167 scientific publications, 90 of them in SCI journals. I have collaborated in ca. 40 public research projects and 20 R & D agreements with companies and / or administrations. I have participated in 60 conferences (having presented 63 communications). I am member of the Marine Biological Association of United Kingdom, the International Polychaete Association, The systematics Assoiation of Uk and the Linnean Society of London. I have directed four PhD theses and I am Scientific Consultant for more than 50 international journals. Also I am Associated Editor for Scientia Marina, memebr of the scientific committee of Invertebrate Zoology, and Review Editor of Marine Systematics and Taxonomy for Frontiers in Marine Science.
