Our research at the University of Otago ( addresses hard-to-treat pathogenic bacteria; especially the ones categorized as 'critical' by the WHO. We work on drug resistance, biofilm infections and persistence, and utilize a skin infection model to study novel antimicrobial treatment strategies. We employ state-of-the-art imaging and genomics approaches to understand underlying resistance and infection mechanisms, in vitro and in vivo.
