About

Daniel Wilks, originally from north west England, obtained bachelor of science, bachelor of medicine, and surgery degrees from the University of Leeds. After qualifying as a doctor, he trained in surgery before starting a career in plastic surgery as a means to pursue his interest in surgery of the hand. After obtaining fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons, working as a fellow at the Royal Children's Hospital, Melbourne, he enhanced his skills in children's hand surgery, children's microsurgery, complex lower limb reconstruction, and surgery for facial palsy. He later went on to undertake a UK national fellowship in hand surgery, a diploma in hand surgery, and an invited travelling fellowship in the US. Daniel is currently employed as a locum consultant at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. Daniel became interested in composite allotransplantation 10 years ago and has worked closely with Professor Simon Kay to establish the UK centre for upper limb transplantation in Leeds and has contributed over 20 articles to the international literature on a variety of topics.
