After graduating from Cambridge university, Darren Tunstall trained as an actor at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, and later with Philippe Gaulier, Theatre de Complicite and others. He worked in the professional theatre, film and TV industries for 23 years, as actor, writer, director, movement director and associate director, including for the Royal Shakespeare Company for several years. He also taught at Wimbledon School of Art, Central School of Speech and Drama, Arts Educational Schools and other drama schools before taking a full-time post at UCLan. He has recently completed a chapter on the RSC actor Patrice Naiambana for 'The Routledge Companion to Actors' Shakespeare' and is currently researching for a book, called 'Shakespeare in Practice: Gesture', to be published by Palgrave Macmillan in 2013.
