About

Currently working on a number of multi-disciplinary and multi-site projects. These include ChartEx (Charter Explorer), a JISC-funded project that is developing new ways of exploring the full text content of digital historical records, Co-Motion, a three year 'Design for Wellbeing' project which is investigating the links between mobility and wellbeing amongst older people, and OptiNav (Optical Navigation System for the Visually Impaired), a Technology Strategy Board-funded project, which aims to tackle the "last 10 yards problem" often encountered by people with visual disabilities when navigating their environment. I have also worked on the European Commission-funded i2Web Project (Inclusive Future-Internet Web Services), which created authoring, delivery and compliance tools for developing and evaluating accessible web applications, and the EU4ALL Project (European Unified Approach for Assisted Lifelong Learning), which developed a framework for accessible lifelong learning for students with disabilities. I am particularly interested in web accessibility and am also currently undertaking a PhD investigating how best to support web developers in the creation of usable and accessible websites. This draws upon my work on the i2Web project and also my previous role as a web developer.
