Professional experience 1993 – Present, Richmond Community College, Hamlet, NC Department Chair: - Healthcare Management Program Professor – Business Administration Department Currently teaching, or have taught, the following classes in the Business Administration and Healthcare Management Departments: • Introduction to Business • Introduction to Healthcare Management • Business Finance • Healthcare Financial Management • Personal Finance • Principles of Marketing • Small Business Management • Principles of Management • Human Resource Management • International Business • Business Math • Long Term Care Administration • Management of Healthcare Organizations In addition to curriculum courses, have also taught the following courses through the Small Business Center’s Continuing Education Department: • Rural Entrepreneurship thru Action Learning (REAL) • Small Business Tax Education Program (STEP) • Bookkeeping and Accounting for Small Businesses • Quickbooks for Small Businesses Other College activities include: • Co-Chair of the Financial Resource Committee for the Southern Association of Schools and Colleges (SASC) 2003 accreditation visit. • Coordinator of the IRS sponsored Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. • Past President of the RCC Faculty Association. • Nominated as Faculty Member of the Year in 2001. • Led students on national and international educational trips. • Faculty Advisor to RCC’s Campus Crusade for Christ and Global Studies Clubs. • Former Faculty Advisor to RCC’s Business Student’s Association 1999 – 2002, Town of Dobbins Heights, Dobbins Heights, NC Part-time Finance Officer & Budget Director Responsible for all government accounting and finance activities for a municipality with a population of slightly less than 1,000 residents. Annual operating budget of approximately $400,000. Provided financial expertise on special fund construction projects of slightly under $1 million. 1992 – 1993 First Union National Bank, Raleigh, NC System Developer Served as internal consultant to five functional departments in the Mortgage Servicing Division. Project Leader on the successful system conversion of more than 100,000 mortgage loans acquired as a result of eight separate mergers and acquisitions. Transferred to FUNB in Raleigh after FUNB acquired Southeast Bank in Miami. 1988 – 1992 Southeast Bank, NA Miami, Florida Senior Accounting Analyst Responsible for cost accounting and reporting to senior management of Southeast Mortgage Servicing Company (SEMCO). Total portfolio value in excess of $10 Billion. Worked very closely with Foreclosure and Real Estate Owned (REO) departments. 1982 – 1988 Skylake State Bank, N. Miami Beach, FL Investor Accounting & Reporting Promoted from the mailroom to increasing levels of responsibility until finally responsible for investor reporting on GNMA mortgage backed securities portfolio in excess of $1 Billion.
