About

Don has been a designer for over 15 years, setting up his first design company in Camden, London in the early Nineties, where, amongst others, he worked with opera singer Lesley Garrett designing her Gramophone award winning album “Soprano In Red”. After designing over 400 album covers he worked as a corporate designer for companies Wolf
Ollins (Orange and Q8 Oil), David Davies (NatWest bank reface) and Newell and Sorrell (WHSmith branding).

Since 2000 he has specialised in Advertising as an Art Director presenting campaigns, strategy and marketing concepts to Sony Pictures, Film Four, Walt Disney, Universal Pictures, UIP, Momentum and Twentieth Century Fox. These responsibilities led to managing campaigns on a European roll out basis for each company. Being responsible for a large creative team of art directors and copywriters, designers, productions artists, TV and radio commercials directors and print houses. Working in-house for Cartoon Networks European Headquarters (Turner House, London) allowed Don to create concept designs for TV identity work, UK and European advertising campaigns and become involved in the marketing strategy for the channel.

His research into Advertising Design, strategy and consumer behaviour has culminated in a series of art exhibitions and events, showing at the Break 2.4 Independent Art Festival in Europe and lecturing at the Magdalena Festival, Slovenia on Consumer Behaviour and Manufacturing Consent within the Advertising Design Industry. He visited Shenzhen University in June 2008 to lecture in Advertising Design at the School of Mass Communication where he has been awarded a Visiting Professorship for his teaching, research and commercial contributions at the University and to the Industry. The University of Wales, Newport will be part of an international research hub focusing on Advertising Design Profession with the co-operation and integration of Shenzhen University and the BA (Hons) Advertising Design Programme.
