About

I am currently the Mass Spectrometry Manager at the Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor, ME. I run the service core here where we provide mass spectrometry expertise to the JAX community and beyond. I completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship funded by the Walther Cancer Institute at the University of Notre Dame. My focus was combining the technologies of mass spectrometry imaging and confocal raman microscopy for the study of oncology models such as 3D cell cultures, a technique we called CRIMSON. For more information, please contact me. I was a graduate student researcher at Northwestern University under the direction of Prof. Neil L. Kelleher. Research Information: Developed methodology for the application of Top Down proteomics to interesting biological samples to obtain the most complete characterization of a proteome possible by monitoring post-translational modifications, peptide cleavages, and other unique events. Applications platforms of interest include senescence and apoptosis cell models, due to the numbers of known and unknown changes occurring within these global cellular processes. Work includes development in gel-based separations, antibody development, western blots, flow cytometry, RPLC, cell biology including mammalian cell culture, classic proteomics techniques, mass spectrometry, and software analysis. When Not Researching: I am an avid biker, jogger, and gamer (of many different kinds). I also continue to practice harp and volunteer my time playing for groups regularly.
