    Possessing a diverse background of training and expertise in the field of sexual addiction therapy, Dr. Michael Barta began preparing for his career as a student at the University of Colorado, where he completed his undergraduate training with a bachelor of arts. Following this, he gained acceptance to the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon, to earn a graduate degree in special education, along with teaching certification from Metropolitan State College in Denver. Later, Dr. Michael Barta completed his formal training with a PhD in counselor education and supervision attained in conjunction with the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley. Michael Barta founded and directs the Colorado Sexual Recovery Center in Boulder, where he treats patients as a certified sexual addiction therapist - supervisor. An active contributor to his field, he maintains affiliations with a number of professional organizations and associations, including the International Institute of Trauma and Addiction Professionals and the American Counselor Association.
