Flood Hazard and Risk
My education in the field of Civil Engineering opened up the doors of the labour market for me in the engineering companies, sector which widely requested technical profiles like mine no so long ago in Spain. The differential qualities among technicians seemed not to be too important since the job opportunities were massive, especially in Spain where I had the opportunity to carry out my professional development up to now. Currently job opportunities are limited, thus not just knowledge must to be offered in engineering sector. My knowledge is based on Hydraulics & Hydrology, however along my professional career I had the opportunity to participate in several engineering fields, even conducting aerospace projects through development of heliport designs across Catalonia.
During my professional training I have gained a series of characteristics and qualities which led me up to the person and worker who currently I am. The enthusiasm and appetite for learning in this labour market led me to wish an ongoing training. My education in entrepreneurship and innovation enabled me the acquisition of knowledge about business management and R&D, which currently contribute a great value in a competitive world where innovation is needed to guarantee a feasible future for companies’ development and growth.
Currently I am a member of the Flumen Research Institute (http://www.flumen.upc.edu/es) as a PhD researcher. My field of research is urban flood risk management, focusing on hazards for pedestrian and vehicles and vulnerability/damages for vehicles.
