EDUARDO SALCEDO-ALBARÁN is a Colombian philosopher, Ms. in political science and social scientist. He is the founder and Director of VORTEX, a transnational research group that provides inputs for policy making under integrative science principles. 

By applying artificial intelligence, neuroscience and social networks analysis, he has researched in the areas of transnational organized crime, kidnapping, corruption, drug-trafficking and State Capture. Between 2004 and 2006 he served as advisor for the Colombian presidency and security agencies in Colombia. Then, as consultant and researcher, he continued working with institutes like local chapters of Transparency International and Global Integrity, among public security agencies in Central America. He has collaborated for SEED Magazine and for different books and magazines, as a researcher and activist on science and empirical knowledge. Between 2006 and 2008, he worked as researcher and producer assistant for the audiovisual project "Colombia al Límite", a contemporary requiem synchronized with images of violent events occurred in Colombia during the last three decades. "Colombia al Límite" was nominated and exhibited in the section of Best Informative Documental in the New Latin American Film Festival at La Havana, Cuba, 2008. He has taught in the areas of Evolution and Genetics for Social Scientists and Philosophers, Artificial Intelligence for Social Scientists, and Introduction to Scientific Thought for Psychologists. He is currently developing trans-disciplinary research on Transnational Criminal Networks in Colombia, Peru, Guatemala and Mexico, among other countries. Some of his books: "Corrupción, Cerebro y Sentimientos” (2007) [Corruption, Brain and Feelings, in Spanish]; "La Mente Inorgánica" (2009) [The Inorganic Mind, in Spanish]; "El Crimen Como Oficio" (2007) [Crime as a Job, in Spanish], "La Captura y Reconfiguración Cooptada del Estado" (2009) [The Capture and Co-opted State Reconfiguration, in Spanish] and “Illicit Networks Reconfiguring States: Social Network Analysis of Colombian and Mexican Cases” (2010).
