Founded in 1992, El profesional de la información (EPI) is a scientific, partially open access journal on Library and Information Science and Communication and publishes articles in English, Spanish, French, and Portuguese. Known as Information World en Español in its first years of publishing, EPI received the current name in 1998 and since then all the articles have been analized through the double-blind peer review process. Starting with 2006 El profesional de la información (EPI) is indexed in various databases such as: Social Sciences Citation Index (Web of Science) - Thomson ISI, Scopus and currently has the following sections: Observatory, Research articles, Analysis, Software, and Indicators.
