    About

    I am an ecosystem ecologist focusing on the mechanisms involved in plant-soil interactions and their role in ecosystem functioning. I have the best of both worlds because I get to use state-of-the-art molecular techniques and also go out to the field and do ‘classic’ field ecology. So I use a combination of ecological field studies, molecular and biogeochemical tools to investigate how grassland restoration and management strategies affect soil microorganisms and how this might feed back to plant productivity. I'm also particularly interested in the role of plant-soil interactions in carbon dynamics and the importance of functional diversity of soil microorganisms in the resilience of ecosystems to stress.
