Faisal Abbas, at present, is visiting Experienced Research Fellow at the department of Economics, George August University, Goettingen Germany. Recently, Dr. Abbas was also a visiting assistant Professor at the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management, Cornell University, USA. He held position as Assistant Professor at the department of Management Sciences, COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT), Islamabad, Pakistan. Previously, he held position of Assistant Professor at the department of Economics, South Asian University (SAU). Also, he was Pakistan fellow (Post Doc) at the department of Political and Cultural Change, University of Bonn, Germany and worked in the flood affected districts of South Punjab, Pakistan focussing on context analysis of the post flood livelihood activities. He has completed his German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) funded PhD on Development Economics. His PhD was focusing on issues of public health expenditures, health status of the population in historical context and impact of nutrition as health variable on development of Pakistan. He has been a Researcher for a DFID-funded project related to urban health issues in Faisalabad, Pakistan. Also Dr. Abbas engaged as a “Senior Economist” with USAID Pakistan Trade Project where preliminary job requirement was to advice Ministry of commerce and National Tariff commission (NTC) on issues related to trade especially on agricultural trade. Also, I have to develop an independent and functional research unit at NTC and developed capacity of the research officers. Faisal Abbas has been awarded number of prestigious scholarships/fellowships during his PhD studies; like Carlo Schmidt Fellowship to work for World Health Organization (WHO) Headquarter in Geneva, Switzerland. He also won the Volkswagen foundation ‘Our Common Future Fellowship’ for Global Health in 2010. He has written on issues related to Health Economics, Energy, Public Policy, Rural Poverty, Gender and Education. Furthermore, he is also serving as a reviewer of Energy Economics, Energy Policy, Economic Change and Restructuring, Journal of Cleaner Production and Sage Open Access Journal.
