Fanos Mekonnen Birke is an agricultural expert by training with over 10 years of experience in agricultural communication and information management. Previously she managed knowledge sharing and communication works for ILRI's Livestock and Irrigation Value chains for Ethiopian Smallholders (LIVES) project. Fanos worked with multidisciplinary research and development teams to develop and implement knowledge management strategies towards increased visibility, uptake and use of the project’s research and development outputs. Her key activities in ILRI include knowledge platform creation and operationalization, research and documentation on use of Information Communication Technologies (ICTs), web content management, blogging, editing and internal communications management. She holds BSc in Animal Production and Rangeland Management from Hawassa University, Ethiopia and MSc degree in Agro-ecological knowledge and social change from Wageningen University, the Netherlands. She is currently preparing a Phd research work on use of Information and communication technologies in agricultural extension in Ethiopia with the Institute of social sciences in Agriculture, Hohenheim University, Germany.
