About

I graduated from Army Medical College, Rawalpindi in 2001 with honors in Biochemistry and Pharmacology. After my residency training at the Armed Forces Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine, I qualified diploma in Medical Rehabilitation in 2007 (Stood first ) and cleared fellow ship exam of College of Physician and Surgeons in the discipline of Rehabilitation Medicine in 2009. I am an active researcher with established track record of publications. At present I have the largest number of presentations (16) and publications (37) among the Rehab physicians based in South Asia. I was awarded Ibn-e – Sina Silver medal in recognition of outstanding original research work presented at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences, Islamabad Annual symposium 2007. In addition i have been invited as speaker abroad and have won ISPRM young Investigators award 2009 (Istanbul, Turkey), Travel grants of 2500$ and 1500$ from Emerging Nations Science Foundation (Italy) , Young Physician’s Scholarship for the 7th World Stroke Congress ( Seoul, Korea), Research productivity Award 2010 and 2011 ( Pakistan Council for Science . In 2011 I was awarded 25,000 USD scholarship by Pakistan Armed Forces to Undergo On Job Training in the USA (Rusk Rehabilitation, NYU, NY and Kessler Rehabilitation, West Orange, NJ) –June –Dec 2011. In June 2011 I became the second person in the World to be awarded Michael Moles Fellowship by the World Association for Disaster and Emergency Medicine for 2011-2013.( http://www.wadem.org/moles_fellowship.html) I am the editorial board member for Clinical Trial Magnifier ( Hongkong), Electronic Physician Journal (Iran) and Clinical Reviews and Opinions. In addition I am peer reviewer for eight national and international medical journals. I am the pioneer member of International Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (Switzerland) , World Federation of neurorehabilitation ( UK), American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine ( USA) and International Rehabilitation Forum ( USA) from Pakistan. At present I am the Pakistan Chapter coordinator for Transverse Myelitis Association (USA) , International Rehabilitation Forum (USA) and Asian Spinal Cord Network (ASCoN). I was elected as the first and only active individual member of the ISPRM Assembly of Delegates from Pakistan in Aug 2010 and at present i am the Only Pakistani member of ISPRM Disaster Relief and Rehabilitation committee.
