About

Flavia Gasbarri holds a PhD in War Studies from King's College London, where she is currently Teaching Fellow and convenor of the module on “War and International Politics in Africa”. Flavia Gasbarri holds a MA in International Relations (2009) and a BA in Political Science (2006) from the University of Roma Tre (Rome). Before starting her PhD, she worked in the Historical-Diplomatic Archive of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Her research interests focus on the history of the Cold War in the Third World and on the post-Cold War US foreign policy. For her thesis’ fieldwork, she spent one semester (April-September 2012) in the United States as Junior Visiting Scholar at the Woodrow Wilson Center in Washington DC. Besides her research, Flavia Gasbarri worked as Teaching Assistant in the Department of War Studies and in the Department of History at King’s College between 2011 and 2015, covering a broad range of courses on both politics and history. In January-July 2015 she was appointed Teaching Fellow in the Defence Studies Department at the Joint Services Command and Staff College (JSCSC) in Shrivenham where she worked as Academic Tutor for the British Armed Forces (both at junior and senior level).
