Journalist and professor of Management of News and Audiovisual Organisations at the School of Communication Sciences of the University of Santiago de Compostela. Francisco Campos-Freire holds a bachelor’s degree in Information Sciences from the Complutense University of Madrid, an MBA in Management of Industrial and Services Enterprises, and a doctorate from the University of Santiago de Compostela. Dr. Campos-Freire is a university professor recognised by the National Quality Assessment and Accreditation Agency of Spain (ANECA) since 2011. Dr. Campos-Freire has been certified as a European Expert in the Management of Corporate Social Responsibility and Quality by the European Organisation for Quality (EOQ) and the Spanish Association for Quality (AEC).
Dr. Campos-Freire has taught the courses Management of News and Audiovisual Organisations and New Media at various foreign universities and has been a visiting professor in universities of Portugal, Argentina, Colombia, Brazil, Dominican Republic and Ecuador. He is a board member of the Spanish Association of Communication Research (AE-IC).
Dr. Campos-Freire is also a member of the Novos Medios research group of the University of Santiago de Compostela. He is one of the creators and coordinators of Nostracker, the research group’s own original system of analysis and management of online content through digital media, blogs and social networks. As a researcher, his areas of specialisation are Media Management and Financing, Communication Systems, Organisation and Management of News and Audiovisual Organisations, Family Communication Companies, Systems of Information and Communication Quality, Corporate Social Responsibility, and Cultural and Communication Industries.
In the field of journalism, Dr. Campos-Freire started as a delegate of La Voz de Galicia in Lugo (1979-1985), Deputy-director and Director of La Región of Ourense (1985-1990), Managing Director of Agencia Gallega de Noticias (AGN) in 1990-94, director general of Compañía de Radio Televisión de Galicia (Company of Radio Television of Galicia) from 1994-2005; and President of the Spanish Federation of Regional Organizations of Radio and Television (FORTA) in 1994, 1997, 2001 and 2004.
He has edited several books, including: El cambio mediático ("The media change"), published in 2009; El nuevo escenario mediático (“The new media scenario”), published in 2010; and Gobernanza y comunicación en Europa (“Governance and communication in Europe”), published in 2011.
