About

Research interests include ethnographic studies of the workplaces, such as healthcare documentation creation, globally distributed work teams, enterprise system implementations, and intercultural communication in service encounters. He also has conducted trainings on how to achieve collaborative work in globally-distributed teams through building virtual workplace communities, as well as conducting ethnographic research in workplace settings. Present projects include being the project coordinator for study of the medical transcription industry and healthcare documentation production processes, evaluation of electronic health record systems, examining globally distributed collaborative software development teams, and focusing on the role of information and communication technologies in collaborative work. He also serves are reviewer for a variety of journals across disciplines, including sociology, information systems, intercultural communication, and ethnic studies.
