Dr. Gauri Naik Gholap, a biotechnologist by profession co-founded OPTRA Systems as her second venture after she moved back to India from USA in 2006. Before founding Optra Systems, she was a co-founder of Silicon Valley, California based Digital Pathology Company named BioImagene which was acquired by Roche diagnostics. Gauri is responsible for enriching the domain knowledge of her companies as well as involved in strategic planning & business development activities. Gauri has over a decade of experience working in genetics, cytology, microbiology, molecular biology, medical imaging & bioinformatics field. Earlier, Gauri was selected as a young scientist for research programmes in Biotechnology and Microbiology by CSIR-UGC. She has 11 US patents to her credit. She also has published many research papers in International Journals & has participated as speaker in many international conferences. Prior to her entrepreneurial activities, Gauri worked for various Bioinformatics companies offering genomic and proteomic related services, molecular modeling, clinical trials/CRM, database management services, high-throughput data analysis and tool-based pharmaco-genomics solutions.
Gauri’s vision is to establish OPTRA Systems as a leading Digital Healthcare company globally. OPTRA is presently serving leading pharmaceutical and biotech companies, healthcare organizations while offering its unique software solutions and services. OPTRA has its corporate office in Pune, India & wholly owned subsidiaries in USA and Netherlands. Besides professional career, Gauri takes lot of interest in Socio-cultural activities. In 2007, Gauri contributed a chapter in a book which is a collection of life stories of 25 Indian Families who lived abroad and returned to India termed as NRIs (NEST RETURNED INDIANs.). She also mentors few cultural forums dedicated to the drama & film activities. Gauri is married to her like minded college mate Abhijeet and they have 2 daughters viz. Devika & Eesha.
