object-oriented design and architectureprogramming languagesalgorithmsfunctional programming

I love learning something new, digging deeply into it, and applying that to my work. I never stop learning. Right now I'm trying to fill in the gaps in my education by listening to MIT online computer science cources. They're really great, unlike the cources I used to take at my University. My favourite are SICP (of course) and Introduction to Algorithms. I started programming on my 386DX. I made it run Windows 95, and Visual Studio 4 with a little upgrade of RAM. It took like half an hour for all that to boot up, so I pressed the button, and went to brew a cup of tea. My first app was a slot machine emulator, written in Visual Basic to impress a girl in my school. Actually, my graduate work at the school was in Visual Basic too. When already at the University, I tried to work as a php web developer, but finally fell in love with Java. Last year I got familiar with functional programming, and it blew my mind. Right now I'm interested in functional (lisp, haskell, clojure) and hybryd languages (like Scala or Groovy), as well as working with what I already know (enterprise java solutions). I'm still in love with those clever architecture hints, called Design Patterns.
