Germán Buitrón received the B.S. in Chemical Engineering (1987) at the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (UNAM), the Master and Ph. D. in Water Treatment Engineering at the National Institute of Applied Sciences at Toulouse, France (1990 and 1993, respectively). Since 1994, he has been working at the Institute of Engineering - UNAM as Titular Researcher and Professor of the Graduate Environmental Engineering program. He is the Head of the Laboratory of Advanced Processes for Water Treatment at the Juriquilla Campus UNAM. The current research lines and interest are: Bio-energy production from wastewater (methane, hydrogen, electricity); Biodegradation of toxic organic compounds present in industrial wastewater; Membrane bioreactors; Textile wastewater treatment; Automatization and control of bioreactors.
