My primary interest is how change is measured and conceptualised in addiction science, and whether this is meaningful to patients or user (or their representatives) communities. I believe strongly in harm reduction and empowerment. Current projects include development of a Core Outcome Set for Alcohol Brief Intervention trials, health and wellbeing in the Creative Sector, and Opiate Overdose Prevention. I am a Reader in Psychology in the Institute of Mental Health Sciences, and the Postgraduate (PhD) Course Director at Ulster University's School of Psychology.
