Dr. Ian Sutherland, PhD (Exon) is Assistant Professor and Director, PhD Program at IEDC–Bled School of Management. Dr. Sutherland has an active international career as a researcher, educator and musician combining expertise in sociology, creativity and leadership studies. Current research and teaching activities focus on experiential arts-based methods of leadership development and strategy. Dr. Sutherland regularly gives guest lectures, seminars and conference presentations around the world, is co-founder and editor of the journal Music and Arts in Action and the author of articles appearing in Journal of Arts Management, Law and Society; Journal of Visual Art Practice; Music and Arts in Action; Business Leadership Review. Upcoming publications include Leadership: Key Concepts (Sage) co-authored with Prof. Jonathan Gosling and Dr. Stephanie Jones. Prior to joining IEDC he held appointments as Associate Research Fellow at the University of Exeter’s Centre for Leadership Studies and Assistant Professor at Memorial University, Canada.
