    Rear Admiral (Retired) İbrahim AKIN was born in Artvin/Turkey in 1954. He graduated from the Turkish Naval Academy as an ensign in 1975. He served in Turkish Navy between 1975-2008 as a naval officer. He commanded Turkish Navy Destroyers TCG ZAFER and TCG YÜCETEPE. He graduated from Turkish and Pakistan Naval Staff Colleges. He served at the Turkish General Staff and Naval Headquarters more than 6 years. He served at Turkish National Military Representative (NMR) as Deputy NMR at the SHAPE Headquarters in Mons/BELGIUM between 1995-1998. He served as instructor in Turkish Naval War College. He is promoted to Rear Admiral on 30 August 2002. He also served as the Superintendent of Turkish Naval Academy for 3 years. He was retired from Turkish Navy on 30 August 2008. After retirement, He started his doctorate program at Gazi University, Social Sciences Institute at International relations department in Ankara. He is writing his thesis nowadays. He is also serving as a Lecturer at Pirireis University-Tuzla/İstanbul İbrahim AKIN is married to Mrs. Düriye AKIN and they have a son and a daughter both are married. He speaks English.
