Dr. Ibrahim Zakaria BAHRELDIN was educated at the University of Khartoum (B.Sc. Hon. In Architecture), KU Leuven University, Belgium (M.A in Human Settlements), and Waseda University-Tokyo Japan (Ph.D. Urban and Environmental Design). Dr. Bahreldin is an urban designer and planner. He is also Assistant Professor of urban and environmental design at the Faculty of Architecture, University of Khartoum, Sudan, where he heads the self-evaluation and quality control unit. Dr. Bahreldin had obtained many local academic and professional awards as well as several international scholarships and grants. He had published several journal articles, conference papers and reports on urban development issues and sustainable habitat. His research interests focus on riverside development, public participation in low- income communities and colonial and post- colonial urbanism and architecture.
