I have a BA in Political Science (Magna Cum Laude) and astronomy/astrophysics from the University of Colorado at Boulder. My PhD dissertation combined the Copenhagen School's securitization concept with identity as a possible mechanistic explanation of the democratic peace at the University of Southern California. My research interests are wide-ranging, including constructivism, the role of identity in foreign and security policy, international security, arms control and strategy, and foreign policy analysis. I also have regional interests in East Asia, South Asia, and Europe. I am currently the ConocoPhillips Assistant Professor of International Relations at the University of Oklahoma, a joint appointment in the School of International and Area Studies and the Department of Political Science.
