Jim Wagstaff has been actively involved in the information technology sector for more than 25 years. During that time Jim has had the opportunity to manage diverse businesses in many different parts of the world including the United States, India, Malaysia, Japan, China, Hong Kong, and Singapore while serving in various roles at companies such as Hewlett Packard, Dell, and Brocade Communications. In early 2010 Jim decided to refocus the knowledge and skills he had developed through many years of doing "big corporate" jobs by becoming an entrepreneur, active board member, brand-builder, and consultant in a number of Singapore-based start-ups. These smaller firms are developing a range of new businesses in the Asia-Pacific region such as mobile applications, professional services, cloud service integration, route-to-market business advisory, and organizational development consulting. Jim is co-founder, and Managing Director, of Jam Factory Pte. Ltd., a Singapore-based company that has three core businesses: business advisory, learning consultation, and bespoke application development. Since 2012, Jam Factory has also been a certified Cisco Business Learning Partner. Jim currently serves as a board member for Up 2 Speed Pte. Ltd., a Singapore-based organization focused on crafting customized learning and development solutions for companies in the Asia-Pacific region. Until early 2013, Jim served as a board member for CloudFX Pte. Ltd., a Singapore-based cloud consultancy and integration firm that is now partly owned and funded by Intel Capital and Cisco Systems. Jim was previously Vice-President and General Manager of the StorageWorks business unit of Hewlett Packard for Asia Pacific and Japan. His responsibilities while leading this business unit encompassed all aspects of the organization including sales, pre-sales, channels, marketing, finance, and service. Prior to HP, Jim was at Dell in Shanghai, where he was General Manager of the company’s server and storage business in Greater China. During this time, Jim was also responsible for Dell's alliance and OEM relationship with EMC in Asia Pacific and Japan. Jim first joined Dell in 1995 and held a number of pre-sales, sales, management, and executive roles with the company over the years. He also managed the server and storage pre-sales functions in the U.S. and Asia Pacific at different times and, in a departure from his “enterprise” roots, headed Dell’s South Asia Home, Small and Medium Business division managing two call centers in Penang, Malaysia and Bangalore, India. At Brocade Communications, Jim led three OEM business units globally which were focused on design wins, new product launch programs, product marketing, and sales support for private label and embedded solutions with key server and storage vendors in the information technology sector. Jim has an MBA from the University of Liverpool, a management accounting qualification from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School and is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in business through the University of Liverpool with an emphasis on the research and application of cross-cultural leadership and learning in the Confucian-influenced cultures of East Asia.
