Dr. Jinyang Xu is an Associate Professor and a Doctoral Supervisor of Mechanical Engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China. He is a senior member of ASME, SME and IMechE. He was awarded as a talent of the Shanghai Pujiang Program by Shanghai Municipality in 2017. He got his Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Arts et Métiers ParisTech, France, in 2016, and received his M.S. degree in Mechanical Manufacturing & Automation from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China, in 2013. His research interests focus on composites machining, numerical modeling, micro/nano cutting and surface texturing. He has published over fifty peer-reviewed articles in refereed international journals and conference proceedings being cited more than 900 times featured by an h-index of 16 according to the Google Scholar Citation database. He has edited four special issues in international journals/conferences and co-authored one monograph in the fields of composites machining. He is currently serving as the Co-Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Coating Science and Technology (JCST) and the Academic Editors/Board Members of several international journals in the fields of materials and manufacturing engineering including International Journal of Aerospace Engineering (indexed by SCI/EI), Advances in Materials Science and Engineering (indexed by SCI/EI), Journal of Engineering (indexed by ESCI), Acta Materialia Turcica (AMT), Current Materials Science (CMS), Current Chinese Engineering Science (CENG), Journal of Mechanical Engineering and Biomechanics (JMEB). He has been invited as a keynote speaker for the 9th International Advances in Applied Physics & Materials Science Congress & Exhibition (APMAS 2019, October 22-28, 2019, Ölüdeniz, Turkey) and has been elected as the international committee members of many international conferences such as APMAS2019 (October 22-28, 2019, Ölüdeniz, Turkey), ICEMSEE2020 (March 10-11, 2020, Taipei, China), ECMC2020 (June 09-11, 2020, Stockholm, Sweden) and AMSE2020 (July 22-25, 2020, Vienna, Austria) conferences. He is the principal investigator of some national and provincial projects including the NSFC fund projects, Shanghai Pujiang Talents Program, Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology projects, State Key Laboratory of Mechanical System and Vibration fund projects, as well as a number of industrial projects. For his research contributions to the machining science of composite/metal stacks, he received the Best Paper Awards at the 13th China-Japan International Conference on Ultra-Precision Machining Process (CJUMP2017, November 19-21, 2017, Shanghai, China) and the 2015 International Symposium on Green Manufacturing and Applications (ISGMA 2015, June 23-27, 2015, Qingdao, China). He was nominated for the Pierre Bézier Doctoral Dissertation Award in 2016 and was the recipient of the National Government Study Abroad Scholarship of China (2013), the Excellent Master Thesis Award of Shanghai Municipality (2013), the Excellent Graduate Award of Shanghai Municipality (2013), and the National Graduate Scholarship of China (2012).
