Joanna Kulesza, Ph.D., is an assistant professor at the Department of International Law and International Relations, Faculty of Law and Administration, University of Lodz, Poland. Graduate of the Law Faculty at the University of Lodz (MA 2002, Ph.D. dr. iur. 2008). Her dissertation on Internet governance and state jurisdiction was recognized with the prize of the President of the Republic of Poland (2008) and the Polish Minister of Economy (2009) and published in English with a scholarship from the Foundation for Polish Science (International Internet Law, Routledge 2010). For her scholarly achievements Kulesza was also awarded the START scholarship for promising young researchers (2011). She has been a visiting lecturer with the Oxford Internet Institute, Norwegian Research Center for Computers and Law, Westfälische Wilhelms Universität Münster and Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen. She was a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Cambridge and Ludwig Maximilians University Munich. She has worked for the European Parliament, Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Hague Center for Strategic Studies and the Council of Europe. She is the author of five monographs on international and Internet law (including the recent "Cybersecurity and Human Rights in the Age of Cyberveillance", Rowman and Littlefield, 2015, together with Roy Balleste) and over 50 peer-reviewed papers on Internet governance and international law. Her most recent work covers the due diligence principle in international law.
