About

I am Assistant Professor at the University of Bahrain. I am a registered architect and urban planner. I earned a Ph.D. in architecture with an emphasis on spatial cognition and urban design from the Bartlett School of Graduate Studies, University College London (UCL), and hold an M.Sc. in built environment evaluation for sustainability from Salford University and a Lic. Architecture of Urban and Territorial Planning (equiv. to B.A. urban planning and an M.Arch. architecture) from the Technical University of Lisbon. I am certified in Evidence-Based Design (EDAC). I worked as an architect and planner and as a consultant for urban redevelopment. I co-founded a tech company in Berkeley California and founded Optimal Spatial Strategies Ltd in London. I taught geographic information systems for urban analysis for over 15 years, and was a Guest Lecturer on Space Syntax and Spatial Cognition in the Masters Program in Advanced Architectural Studies at University College London. I am a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
