About

Johan Aerts was born in Merksem (Antwerp, Belgium) the 28th september 1981. He studied physics at the University of Antwerp (1999-2004). He graduated Master in Physics Magna Cum Laude at the University of Antwerp in 2004, with a thesis entitled “Atmospherical corrections on earth observation”. This thesis was made at the Vision Lab (University of Antwerp) under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Paul Scheunders. In January 2006 he started his PhD at BIMEF on the subject of weak non-linear behaviour of the middle ear. He defended his PhD thesis 'Optical Measurement of the Weak Non-linearity in the Eardrum Vibration Response to Auditory Stimuli' on the 29th of April 2010 and received his title of Doctor of Science in Physics. Currently he is working as an IWT postdoctoral fellow on finite element modeling of the middle ear.
