About

My post doc project focuses on intercultural politeness, namely Finnish and French politeness, and is funded by the Finnish foundation Kone (2017–19). In my PhD (2010), I studied forms of address in French films and their translations into Finnish. Furthermore, I co-edited with Hanna Lappalainen the first book in Finnish to deal with address practices in 13 European languages (2015). I’ve also studied the opposite side of politeness, that is verbal violence in digital discourse.
