I have a passion for the protection of networks (known as critical infrastructure and key resources) (CI/KR). Over the past 18 years I have demonstrated this in management, engineering, and operations working in the telecom, cyber security and medical industries for private enterprises and government.
Currently I manage a telecom/cyber security consulting firm, I serve as the Deputy Director of Communications for a Civil Air Patrol Wing and I am a Working Group member for IEEE 1680.3 standards committee.
I hold a degree in Biology, diplomas from the US Army’s Infantry & Signal Officer Courses, and I have completed 39 FEMA Emergency Management courses. I am projected to complete my MBA & MS in Information Security Management/Analysis in 12/10 and 2/11 (respectfully), and I am projected to complete the NSA 4011 and 4012 certification on 6/30/10.
I am a member of InfrGard and InfraGard’s Cyber-threat SIG, the USSS’s Electronic Crimes Task Force and APCO.
During the past six years I served as the executive manager of a fiber-optic based CLEC where I designed, engineered, implemented and operated a three state network.
Over the past year I completed an InfoSec audit and developed a Continuity of Operations (COOP) plan for a government agency; deployed a new digital VHF repeater network; designed a new public safety network and developed standards for a new fiber-optic network.
During the past 5 months I completed a 5 month volunteer stint as an Expert Reviewer for the ARRA’s (“Recovery Act’s”) $4.7 Billion Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP) grants administered by the NTIA.
