About

My research aims to understand and enable manipulation of the processes that control the structure and redistribution over time of colloid deposits in porous media such as sand filters, backfill liners, sediments and soils. By integrating separate concepts of non-steady state flow fields, physico-chemical controls on deposit morphology, and biological contributions to aggregate stability with the geotechnical properties of colloid-modified media I aim to derive a mechanistic model relating the mechanical and filtration performance of these materials to their structure and long-term stability.
