About

At the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Information Technology (FIT), I am part of the CAPLE (Context and Attention in Personalized Learning Environments) group that aims to support teachers and learners in universities and at the workplace by providing technical solutions to e.g. improve the access of learning materials or analyse the learning behaviour. In my PhD thesis, I analysed the usage of objects (e.g. text document or movies) in online portals to infer semantic similarities between them without considering their content or any additional semantic metadata. Using this information, the performance of recommender systems that deal with sparse data can be improved in terms of accuracy, novelty, and diversity.
