Mr. Parkins has more than 45 years experience in information technology, including site preparation, equipment installation, systems maintenance and support, systems administration, software engineering, systems engineering, and teaching. His current projects include consulting on Unix resources for bioinformatics at the National Institutes of Health, Rocky Mountain Laboratories, in the areas of high-performance computing clusters and genome analysis. His past projects have included hardware and systems engineering support in development of Naval combat systems for the U.S. Navy's AEgis, Fast Attack Submarine, and Trident Ballistic Missile Submarine projects and test engineering and custom programming support for the Advanced Combat Direction Systems upgrade and modernization programs. He is currently semi-retired and, with his wife Judy, divides his time between Montana and Washington State.
