About

My research focuses on a ciliary protein called Arl13b. Arl13b -/- mice have neural tube closure defects and abnormal motor neuron and oligodendrocyte specification. In humans, mutations in Arl13b can lead to Joubert Syndrome, which is one of many cilia-related disorders known as ciliopathies. Using in vitro and in vivo studies, I am elucidating the role played by cilia-dependent cell signaling pathways in the developing nervous system.
