About

Laura started out as a meteorologist and quickly became interested in science education and outreach for children. This led her to pursue a PhD in Education and Human Resource Studies at Colorado State University. Her PhD work centered on quantitative research methods useful for evaluating large scale professional development programs, centering on a NSF-funded Math & Science Partnership for middle school teachers in Colorado. She moved to the UK in 2009 where she finished work on her dissertation and worked as a research assistant for the Faculty of Education at Edge Hill University until she moved back to the US in 2011. Currently, she splits her time as a research associate with the School of Education and newly formed CSU STEM Center at Colorado State University. Her current research continues to focus on program evaluation, with expanded interests in math and science professional development of teachers and motivation and achievement of students, particularly women/girls and minorities.
