My principal research interest lie in addressing molecular biology and evolutionary questions by applying existing computational tools. I'm keen on developing new tools/methods as well.
In course of my PhD, I was studying the emergence of virulence in various groups of fungal human pathogens. We have assembled, annotated and compared numerous fungal genomes. For that purpose, I have developed new tools including tools for assembly of heterozygous genomes and detection of duplications/deletions from Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) data. In my PostDoc research I'm more focused on gene regulation, especially how genomic changes influence gene regulation and how it relates to changes in phenotype.
