About

I am a third year doctoral psychology student (cognition and instruction) at Grand Canyon University, and have a master’s in general psychology and a bachelor’s in information technology. My interests center on unraveling what seem to me to be the urgently affective underpinnings of human (and non-human) cognition and perception. The goal is to morph our perspective away from this odd, condescending human cognitive detachment, which measures and preserves experience against an ideal (knowledge as meaning) to embracing any unregulated sensory experience as a hope of forming affectively fulfilling attachments to transitory, immeasurable knowledge (knowing as meaning). Current studies: animal consciousness as more inclusive than human awareness (Grandin); remote sensory extension (Eriksson/Blanke), therapeutic haptic communication, and reviving Bergson's thoughts on time perception. I write lessons for Study.com, help out as a Sennseis (teaching assistant) for the goals of GGSC/AARP, and work with New Sunrise, Inc, which is dedicated to helping the impoverished of Central America find acceptance and stability.
