I obtained a Ph.D. at University of Palermo in the Department of Computer Engineering. My thesis work was in the area of robotics and my research topic was in robotic architectures for indoor and outdoor museum tour-guide robots. During my Ph.D I pursued the research in probabilistic algorithms applied to autonomous robotics. I developed novel machine learning and computer vision algorithms for SLAM applications, obtaining interesting results in both indoor and outdoor environments. In 2008 I joined the Cognitive Robotics Group at the University of Ulster as a Research Associate. My duties are to pursue research in the field of learning and adaptive behaviours in robotics. In 2012 I joined the robotics group at the University of California, Berkeley. My duties are still the same :-)
