Dr. Gil is an associate professor at Universidad Diego Portales in Santiago/CHILE. Regional Editor South America at Luxury Research Journal- Inderscience Publishers .Her research interests include: Consumer behavior and self-perceptions, Cross cultural studies, International marketing, Consumption of luxury products, Teenager’s consumer behavior, fashion marketing, materialism, social media. In the past Dr. Gil was an associate professor at Universidad Mayor, lecturer at the Nanyang Business School/Singapore; University Instructor, Faculty Coordinator at the Unimonte University in Brazil and Santa Cecilia University also in Brazil, in sum more than 6 years of academic experience. She received her PhD with emphasis in marketing and consumer behavior (dissertation title: “Impact of self on attitudes toward luxury items among teens in Brazil”) from Michigan State University in the US. Dr. Gil participated in several undergraduate examination boards on public defenses of capstone and final degree projects for several years. She was a reviewer for Congresso Brasileiro de Iniciação Científica (Conference Reviewer/COBRIC) in Brazil/International Journal of Financial Services Management (Journal Reviewer) / Australasian Marketing Journal (Journal Reviewer). She speaks English, Portuguese; and Spanish. Awards and recognition: Dr. Gil was elected counselor of students at the “Post-graduate association - APG – Affiliated with the National Post-Graduate Association” Pontifical Catholic University of Sao Paulo in 1997 and 1998. Dr. Gil was elected honored teacher by students in graduation ceremonies for 3 consecutive opportunities (2001, 2002, 2003), and during her years at MSU she obtained “Mary Louise Gephart-Donell Scholarship” awarded in recognition of her academic excellence, achievements, creativity, and professional potential (2005). At MSU, Ms. Gil was also honored with the invitation to become a member of the “Kappa Omicron Nu Honor Society” (2007) due to her high GPA. She is a member of Academy of Marketing Science, Academy of International Business and Association for Consumer Research. Dr. Gil has given presentations/seminars at the following institutions: France-ESSEC University/Brazil-Deutsche Bank, Lusíada Foundation, Pontifical Catholic University of Sao Paulo, ESAMC University, Universitas University/US-Michigan State University. Throughout her academic career, Dr. Gil has been the recipient of awards from a broad array of grant agencies: Brazil-CAPES/US-Fulbright & CAPES association trough IIE, MSU, Tinker foundation Incorporated – TFI.
