Luciano Barboni was born on October 6, 1965. He got the master degree in Chemistry with full marks in 1990 at the University of Camerino. In 1991 he got a research position at the University of Camerino as researcher. From January to October 2000 he worked with Prof. Gunda I. Georg, at the University of Kansas, USA, on the synthesis of paclitaxel derivatives in the framework of the paclitaxel bioactive conformation research project. Luciano Barboni is now Associate Professor in Organic Chemistry at the University of Camerino, School of Science and Technology. His main research interests regard isolation, identification and modification of natural compounds from medicinal plants. His current research activity regards isolation and structural elucidation of bioactive natural compounds from medicinal plants used in African traditional medicine, mainly in collaboration with prof. Leon A. Tapondjou at the University of Dschang (Cameroon).
